Sustainable Summer Guide

Summer is officially here and I've put together this guide to help you get inspired this season to live more sustainably. It's full of things for you to try with your family and friends this Summer. I hope you have so much fun!

1. STAYCATION
Keep it local and check out the activities your community has to offer! Stay at a hotel in town, go to a concert or night market, shop with local vendors, and learn about the history and culture of your community.

2. WALK + BIKE MORE
Get outside and enjoy the fresh air. It's good for you to move your body and it's also great for the environment. Cut down on your carbon emissions and bike to the grocery store or walk to meet your friends at brunch.

3. AIR DRY YOUR CLOTHES
Save energy and skip the dryer after you wash your clothes. Hang them up to dry al fresco! Be sure to hang them in the shade, out of the sun, so your clothes don't fade.

4. START A GARDEN
Work on starting your own little garden this summer. It's so rewarding to reap the literal fruits of your labor! Encourage your friends to start their own garden too and trade with each other different fruits and veggies.

5. RECYCLE + COMPOST
Check to see if the bottles, cans, containers, and packages your tossing are actually recyclable! Start composting your scraps of food instead of tossing them in the trash. BONUS, you can then use your compost to fertilize your new garden!

6. SHOP LOCAL, SUPPORT LOCAL
When it comes to groceries, apparel, or even home goods, try to shop local as often as you can. Support small local businesses, farmer's, and craftsmen in your community. Visit the shops and markets, get to know the owners/employees, foster relationships with the people around you!

7. DIY YOUR OWN AFTER SUN CARE
Sun, sand, surf... and more sun. It's summer and sunburn happens. We do our best to protect our skin, but sometimes we get a little too toasty. Soothe your skin with this natural, safe, and effective DIY recipe for a soothing after sun spray.

8. CREATE A SLOW SUNDAY RITUAL
Summer is such a fun season. The days are long and full of excitement. Sometimes we get caught up in the go-go-go and need to practice a little more slow living- enjoying life and all its little moments along the way. Whether it's a little self-care bubble bath at night or some gratitude journaling in the morning, take some time this season to slow it down.

xx,
Remy
